About BrazOka and The Okanagan

BrazOka

The Brazil-Okanagan Connection Cultural Association (BrazOka) is located in Kelowna and is the first official association of Brazilians in the Okanagan Valley. BrazOka is a non-profit institution duly registered with the public authorities of BC. It was created in early 2023 with the goal of being the bridge of connection between Brazil and the Okanagan, seeking to provide support to Brazilian immigrants living in the cities of the Valley and those who are still in Brazil but planning to move here.

The Association also aims to promote Brazilian culture to Canadians and people of other nationalities living in the region. If you are Brazilian and are looking for support to move to or adapt to the Okanagan region, you can count on BrazOka!

About the Okanagan

The Okanagan Valley is located in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada, from the city of Vernon to Osoyoos. The Okanagan is a vibrant and scenic region that offers a blend of natural beauty, outdoor activities, cultural attractions, and a growing wine industry, making it a sought-after destination for both tourists and residents seeking a combination of nature and high quality of life.

According to the 2016 Canadian census, the region's population is 362,258. The Valley spans approximately 200 kilometers, from the southern tip of Okanagan Lake to the Canada-US border. It is situated between the Coast Mountains to the west and the Monashee Mountains to the east, creating a unique microclimate ideal for agriculture.

The climate is semi-arid, with hot summers and mild winters. This creates ideal conditions for cultivating a variety of fruits, especially grapes for wine production, earning it the nickname "Napa of the North." The region is home to numerous wineries producing world-class wines, including Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and many others. In addition to grapes, the region also produces other fruits such as apples, cherries, peaches, and plums.

The natural beauty of the Okanagan Valley provides ample opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Activities such as hiking, cycling, golf, boating, and fishing are popular throughout the region. The Valley's lakes, including Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake, are ideal for swimming and water sports.

If you are considering making one of the Okanagan cities your home, feel free to contact us to learn more about the region.
