Welcome to BrazOka

Supporting the Brazilian community in the Okanagan

BrazOka is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the Brazilian community in the Okanagan region. We provide support, resources, and a sense of belonging to Brazilians living in the area.

Who We Are

The Brazil-Okanagan Connection Cultural Association (BrazOka) is located in Kelowna and is the first official association of Brazilians in the Okanagan Valley. BrazOka is a non-profit institution duly registered with the public authorities of British Columbia. It was created in early 2023 with the goal of being the bridge of connection between Brazil and the Okanagan, seeking to provide support to Brazilian immigrants living in the cities of the Valley and those who are still in Brazil and planning to move here.

At BrazOka, our mission is to create a strong and supportive community for Brazilians living in the Okanagan. We understand the challenges that arise from being away from our home country and aim to provide resources and assistance to help our community thrive here.

The Association also aims to promote the Brazilian culture to Canadians and people of other nationalities living in the region. If you are a Brazilian and are looking for support to move to or adapt to the Okanagan region, count on us to assist you with the first steps.

Community Engagement

We engage with and help the community through 5 programs designed to attend the Brazilian immigrants first needs: learn about the Okanagan and the life in Canada, improve their English speaking skills, participate in sports, get a job, and assist the little ones learning and keeping the Brazilian culture and language.

Community Support

We offer support and guidance to Brazilians in the Okanagan, whether they are new to the area or have been living here for years. We are available to assist with any questions or concerns, and we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Cultural Events

We organize and host a variety of cultural events throughout the year, including traditional Brazilian celebrations, group hikes, sports events, and social and business gatherings. These events provide an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate our rich heritage, and help each other.

December 6, 2023 - Jornal Brasil Vancouver

November 12, 2023 - CIC News

Canadian immigration is vital to Canada’s future. With a low birth rate and an aging population, Canada needs immigrants to fill gaps in the labour market and promote labour force growth.

November 7, 2023 - IRCC

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is improving how it processes International Experience Canada (IEC) work permits by expanding the use of automation technology. A new tool will help process IEC work permit applications by triaging applications based on their complexity and approving eligibility for routine applications. This will improve efficiency by making decisions faster for some applicants. It will also support the growth of IEC and facilitate work and travel for international youth in Canada.
